Play All Day VA (PADVA)

What is Play All Day VA (PADVA)? A statewide initiative to celebrate the longest day (the summer solstice) through PLAY! The mission is to provide FREE programs and services for the community from sunrise to sunset. The goal is for citizens to get involved in community programs that highlight what P&R represents!
While we understand this year’s initiative is surrounded by Father’s Day, the first week of summer and Juneteenth, we challenge your agency to do what you can where you can with the resources you have. Several agencies are offering their event on a different day (Friday or Saturday). If this is the case, please still register your agency. Even small actions can make big impacts—like waiving a fee, extending hours, offering a pop-up activity or simply encouraging self-guided play. Let’s come together to make the longest day of the year a fun, welcoming celebration for your community.
Why statewide? PADVA aims to: 1) Provide a platform for localities to gauge interest in new programs or services 2) Collect trend data & analytics across the state and share findings with VRPS member agencies. 3) Enhance VRPS presence by highlighting agencies and celebrating collaborative efforts 4) Provide opportunity for ALL ages & abilities 5) Increase community engagement by providing FREE opportunities which promote health and wellbeing, social equity and environmental resilience
How to participate: 1) Hype up PADVA and rally agency support! 2) Register your agency's participation by April 1, 2026. 3) Review toolkit information (links below). 4) Provide opportunity for ALL ages & abilities 5) Market and promote your event to your community and engage your civic leaders
